Wow, I can’t believe I managed to post something every day this week! I can’t remember the last time I did that. Hopefully I can keep it up!
For my Friday post, I think I’m just going to reflect on the little things that brought me joy this week. After the decade that was 2020, I think it is important to celebrate the moments of joy you manage to carve out in the chaos.
Milo Murphy’s Law (Disney+) – this has become our family dinner show. From the creators of Phineas and Ferb, another favorite, this show is about a family that suffers from Murphy’s Law – that anything bad that can happen will happen. The titular character, Milo, is voiced by “Weird Al” Yankovic and the rest of the voice cast ranges from regulars from Phineas and Ferb to celebrities like Jemaine Clement and Mark Hamill!

The show is funny and really smart. And, as my partner pointed out, really doesn’t have a reoccurring villain or mean character. The main obstacle in each episode is whatever ridiculous thing Murphy’s Law causes and the kids managed to navigate it with whatever supplies Milo has in his mysterious backpack.
Bonus points for Milo’s dog, Diogee (yes, D-O-G…took me WAY too long to get that joke…)
Dicebreaker “Let’s Paint miniatures LIVE” stream
I am hoping to start painting miniatures again (as I got a nice paint kit for Christmas) but the reason I started was because of Dicebreaker. I love these chill paint streams, it really is just a lovely 2 hours of hanging out with good peoples.
I had this particular stream playing today while I was at work and I came back to my desk and said hello in the chat and everyone was nice and said hello and it just felt like being out with people again. As I have said many times before, the whole DB community is just full of good peoples.
Bonus points for Lolies painting “toilet man” today and giving him the most dapper mustache.
I won a game of ROOT!

I will do a proper post on the digital edition of Root sometime soon. I’m still learning the game. I actually got the physical copy from my Secret Santa via BoardGameGeek last month but haven’t had time to play it with anyone. I have learned this year that my family prefers I know how to play games myself before I teach them. So I picked up the digital edition during the Steam winter sale to do just that! But I actually won my second game against other humans players!!!
Multiplayer Stardew Valley with my SpicySadSquad friends

I’m on a small Discord group of fellow Oxboxtra fans and when the Stardew Valley update dropped during the Winter Sale, a few people suggested playing together. I hadn’t touched my game since 2019 (and even then I think that was just a quick pop-in, I played the game the year it was released). But the idea of playing a chill game like this while hanging out with friends sounded like a good one during these long winter nights.
We’ve played twice now and have a nice little farm going. I have forgotten everything so it’s like playing a whole new game, especially with all the additional elements that have been added since I last seriously played.
So, what about you? What things made you smile this week? What activity or person or item made you feel warm fuzzies inside?
