I can’t believe it’s Friday already! This week flew by, February is already trying to get away from us.
Here are five things that made me happy this week:
SNOW DAYS! We had all been doing a snow dance at work last weekend, the weather reports seemed to be in our favor and Mother Nature came through and Sunday we had a decent amount of snow and it kept on going in to Monday. The library shut down for Monday and Tuesday, giving time for the Winter Weather Warning to expire and also for us to go outside and chip away at the ice that formed overnight. It wasn’t too bad by Tuesday afternoon, I’m so grateful I didn’t have to get up early on Tuesday morning and deal with it because that would have been rough. I did throw off my whole sleep schedule but it was WORTH IT. I also tackled the guest room, which had so much crap shoved in it since before the holidays. But I managed to put all the ornament boxes away, shove everything back into the closet and do a bit of box Tetris to create more space with the same amount of stuff.
THE EXPANSE Season 5 finale! Another high quality season, one of the best shows. Some emotional moments in this season for sure. Dominque Tipper (Naomi) was AMAZING and she gave so much in every scene. Scenes that happened in total silence – I’m SO glad the writers didn’t give in to the temptation to have her lose her inner monologue but instead let the audience wonder exactly what she was up to as Naomi worked to figure it all out. Tipper did a great job in those small moments, you can see Naomi thinking, trying to solve the puzzles. Just amazing work. The rest of the season was great too, lots of action, bit of humor, I really adore Amos and Peaches and their strange adventure. Too bad Baltimore never seems to get any better, even a hundred years later. I’m sad that Season 6 will be the final season, but I can’t wait to see how it all plays out. I’m definitely going back and watching all the interviews on YouTube and I am going to start listening to the Ty and That Guy podcast when it starts on February 10.
The OXVENTURE PODCAST! I had a music mix going but needed to take a break this week so I put on the next Oxventure Podcast – Wild Wild Woods. It has been so much fun revisiting these adventures and I really enjoy the Oxtra team reminiscing at the start of each episode. If you had told me three years ago I would be listening to a D&D adventure podcast, I would given you a very funny look, but I was laughing out loud in the car today on my way home at all the silly antics. I just love their sense of humor and how much Johnny lets them get away with shenanigans to make the whole thing fun. I know I sound like a broken record but it really is true, if it wasn’t for Oxventure’s attitude toward role-playing games, I would have never looked twice at them all…and now I have small stack of my own to start playing.
This Freakin’ Tik Tok made me laugh so much today, I think I showed it to every one I could, but I am going to post it here because you all need to see it. SO REAL! SUCH ART! Give this man an award!
GAME NIGHT BOX GIVEAWAY – We made up some games-in-a-box giveaways for the library, using The Great Brain Robbery, with permission from Cheapass Games. This is all part of my gran plan to give our branch of the library system the reputation for being the “gaming branch”. We launched the boxes on February 1st, just made 10 of them to start because we weren’t sure how interested people would be…and it’s only been three days are we’re down to 2 games left! We’ve had people stop by JUST TO GET THE BOXES! Which is awesome on so many levels because we reached out to a local game store to try and partner up but we didn’t hear back, but now we can say “These things are POPULAR” and maybe that will get their attention.
